Welcome to This week in Game Engines! This is a recurrent blog post on gamedev news, articles, and related tech development content from the week before.

This format of weekly news was greatly inspired by This week in Rust. Most of the content is automatically added to the post via official RSS feeds from Game Engines websites, and miscellaneous gamedev content is hand-picked from suggestions and news aggregators such as hackernews, lobste.rs and gamedev.city.

This week we got many updated from Phaser and Unreal Game Engine, with a special and exciting announcement of Phaser 4 RC 1. If you want to know more about Phaser 4, check this announcement from last year - it's been in the making for quite a while, but it's a huge modernization effort for one of the most popular JS game engines.

And don't forget to check the games made with Unity article! Many good indie inspirations and some Steam top sellers there. I was recently particularly interested in ENA: Dream BBQ and ended up in a rabbit-hole of lore speculation videos on YouTube, so I can vouch for that if you're into the LSD: Dream Emulator kind of aesthetics.
